Petroleum Prices in Pakistan – Effective from 1 October 2025

The Government of Pakistan has revised fuel rates with effect from 1 October 2025. According to the official notification, the price of petrol has increased by Rs 4.07, reaching Rs 268.68 per litre. Similarly, high-speed diesel (HSD) has gone up by Rs 4.04, now standing at Rs 276.81 per litre.

Fuel Type Previous Price (Rs) New Price (Rs) Change (Rs)
Petrol (Super) 264.61 268.68 +4.07
High-Speed Diesel 272.77 276.81 +4.04

Why Prices Increased?

The rise in petroleum prices is linked to fluctuations in global crude oil markets, the depreciation of the Pakistani rupee, and higher government levies. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) recommended this adjustment, which was later approved by the Finance Division.

Impact on People

The increase in diesel prices will directly affect transportation, freight, and agriculture costs, pushing essential goods to higher prices. Public transport fares are also expected to rise, putting pressure on middle-class and low-income families. Businesses dependent on fuel will see higher operating costs, further fueling inflation.
