Pakistan Unveils 28 New Tech Zones |
Pakistan has approved 28 Special Technology Zones nationwide to boost the country’s digital economy. A prime site of about 140 acres in Islamabad has been set aside to attract global firms, local IT companies, and startups with modern facilities for research, production, and offices.
At a recent Capital Development Authority (CDA) meeting led by Chairman and Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, officials endorsed a master plan featuring tech parks, commercial areas, and residential blocks. The project will be developed in partnership with the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA), which will also form a joint working group to oversee progress.
Companies operating inside the zone will receive tax breaks and duty exemptions, aiming to create thousands of jobs and transform Islamabad into a leading technology hub. Senior CDA planners, including Dr. Khalid Hafeez and STZA’s Amir Saleemi, attended the session to finalize next steps.
